Bio for Sam Minnitti

   

 

Sam Minnitti has been performing and teaching guitar professionally for over 20 years.  A native of Canton, Ohio, he moved to New York City in 1990 to attend the Manhattan School of Music where he studied with Jazz guitar guru, Jack Wilkins. His Summer months were spent at the Eastman School of Music performing in various groups while studying with Jazz guitarist, Gene Bertoncini.

His influences in addition to his teachers include Johnny Smith, Joe Pass, Wes Montgomery, Emily Remler  and John Abercrombie.

Sam was awarded ‘Best Soloist’ for his work with an all guitar quintet during an International Association of Jazz Educators Conference performance.  The legendary trombonist Slide Hampton was one of the judges presiding at the conference that year.

Sam and his family live in the peaceful yet rapidly developing New York City suburb of New Rochelle, New York, which is located in Westchester County.  He currently performs and records with various artists that collectively span a wide range of musical styles.  He is available for private engagements, corporate parties, and events of all types in and around the New York City and Westchester County area.  He also teaches guitar and music theory from his private studio in New Rochelle or at students homes if they prefer. Sam is comfortable working with students of all levels and styles.
